Most weight loss injection services you will find online are exactly that: online. You answer a questionnaire, a prescriber you never meet approves it, and a pen arrives in the post. That works for some people. It is not what we do.
We are a community pharmacy, so the assessment happens in a private consultation room on South Ealing Road, and the pharmacist who decides whether treatment is appropriate is the one you come back to when your dose steps up or something does not feel right. For a treatment that runs over months and changes as you go, that continuity is worth more than the convenience of never leaving the house.
Patients travel to us from across west London, including Hanwell, West Ealing, Acton, Chiswick and Brentford. Every one of those areas has its own page below with journey times and local detail.
Mounjaro is the newer of the two injections we prescribe and, in clinical trials, the more effective. It is given once a week and is licensed in the UK for weight management.
Tirzepatide acts on two gut hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, rather than one. It slows how quickly your stomach empties and reduces appetite signalling, so meals feel like enough sooner and stay that way for longer. It does not change what your body does with food you have already eaten, and it is not a fat burner.
You start at 2.5mg once a week. Each step up is reviewed first, usually after four weeks at the current dose, and most people settle somewhere between 5mg and 15mg. Going up slowly is what keeps side effects manageable, so there is nothing to gain by rushing it.
Appetite changes are usually noticeable within the first two or three weeks. Weight comes off gradually rather than all at once, and trials measured an average loss of 15 to 22 percent of body weight over 72 weeks alongside a reduced calorie diet and more activity.
Nausea, changes to digestion and tiredness are common when starting or stepping up, and usually settle within a week or two. We talk through how to manage them before changing anything, and we would rather you called us than stopped treatment quietly.
Wegovy is the more established of the two, with a longer track record in UK pharmacy practice. It is also a once weekly injection licensed for weight management.
Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 receptor. It slows gastric emptying and reduces appetite, which for most people shows up as smaller portions and much less interest in snacking between meals rather than as a dramatic loss of hunger.
You start at 0.25mg once a week and step up roughly every four weeks towards a maintenance dose of 2.4mg. As with Mounjaro, every increase is reviewed first, and we will hold you at a dose for longer if side effects need time to settle.
Trials measured an average loss of around 10 to 15 percent of body weight alongside diet and lifestyle changes. Results vary between individuals, and the people who do best are generally the ones who use the reduced appetite to build eating habits they can keep.
Much the same as Mounjaro: nausea, digestive changes and tiredness early on, easing as your body adjusts. Anything severe or persistent is worth telling us about straight away rather than waiting for your next review.
Four stages, and the first one is the only part that happens before you have spoken to anybody.
Book online or call the pharmacy. Tell us roughly what you are looking for and we will book you in for an assessment. Nothing is prescribed at this stage.
About twenty minutes in a private room. We take your height, weight and BMI, check your blood pressure, go through your medical history and every medicine you take, and establish whether treatment is appropriate at all.
If you are suitable, we dispense your first pen, show you how to use it and watch you do it once. You go home with written guidance and a clear idea of what the first fortnight will feel like.
We review you before every dose increase, manage side effects as they come up, and talk about what maintenance looks like well before you get there. Questions between appointments are free.
Weight loss injections are prescription only medicines, and they are not right for everybody. The assessment exists to work out which group you are in, and we will tell you plainly if the answer is no.
This is a summary rather than the full picture. Your pharmacist will go through the complete list at your assessment, including anything specific to the medicines you already take.
Prices below are per pen, and one pen is four weeks of treatment. The price changes as your dose changes, which is why the figures rise as you move up the schedule rather than staying flat.
There is no separate consultation fee, no subscription and no joining cost. Your assessment, every review, and questions between appointments are all included in the price of the treatment.

South Ealing Pharmacy at 186 South Ealing Road, London W5 4RJ prescribes Mounjaro and Wegovy as part of a supervised weight loss programme. Assessments happen in a private consultation room and no GP referral is needed. You can book online or call 020 8560 3532.
No. This is a private service and you can book an assessment directly. You do not need to be registered with the pharmacy either. We may ask your permission to contact your GP if something in your history needs checking, but that is not a condition of being seen.
Often yes. If your assessment shows treatment is appropriate and we have your starting dose in stock, we can dispense it at the same appointment and show you how to use it before you leave. If we need to order a pen in, we will tell you exactly when it will be ready.
Mounjaro produced larger average weight loss in trials, at 15 to 22 percent of body weight against roughly 10 to 15 percent for Wegovy. That does not automatically make it the right choice for you. Your medical history, the other medicines you take and how you respond all matter, which is what the assessment is for.
The price depends on your dose, and one pen covers four weeks. Current prices for every dose of both treatments are listed on this page and are updated whenever they change. There is no consultation fee, subscription or joining cost on top.
Most people are surprised how little they feel. The needle is very fine and the injection goes just under the skin of the stomach, thigh or upper arm rather than into muscle. We show you how to do it and watch you do it once before you take a pen home.
You can stop at any time, and there is nothing to cancel. It is worth talking to us first though, because coming off treatment without a plan is where people tend to regain weight. We would rather have that conversation with you than after the fact.
Weight loss injections are not usually a permanent treatment. How long depends on your starting point and your goal, and it is something we discuss at your assessment and revisit as you go rather than leaving until the end.
